Your credit wallet
Your balances, the welcome gift, referral credits, buying a credit pack, gifting credits, and reading your credit history.
Your wallet holds credits in up to four buckets, and the difference between them matters.
Your balances
| Bucket | Where it comes from | Does it expire? |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome gift | 100 credits once, when you verify your email | Yes — 30 days after you got it |
| Earned from referrals | Credits for people who joined through a referral link | Yes — 90 days after each one arrived |
| Plan allowance | Granted each month by a paid plan | Yes — whatever is unspent expires on the renewal date |
| Purchased and gifted | Credit packs you bought, and gifts you received | No |
Available now is all of them added together. The welcome gift shows only while some of it is left, with the date it expires.
When you pay for something, the welcome gift is spent first, then earned credits, then the allowance, then purchased credits. That is deliberate: the balance that expires soonest is used before the balances that last longer.
The wallet shows when the current allowance period ends. Allowance does not carry over: on the renewal date, whatever is unspent expires, the history records it as Allowance expired, and the new month's allowance is granted. Every period starts with exactly one month's allowance.
When a paid plan ends, the allowance left at the end of its last period expires the same way, and no new allowance follows. If a renewal is never paid, the allowance granted for that unpaid month is taken back when the subscription expires, recorded as Credits forfeited; what you already spent of it is not charged back. Purchased and gifted credits stay.
The welcome gift
Every account gets 100 credits once, as soon as its email address is verified, to try promotions, a theme for 24 hours, and the other things credits buy. A message from Novagora in your chats and a notification tell you when they arrive.
- They expire 30 days after you got them. Whatever is left then is removed, and the history records it as Welcome gift expired.
- They cannot be gifted to anyone and have no cash value.
- An account the safety checks have limited, or one of several accounts that share one email inbox, gets no welcome gift, and a gift not yet spent is removed when such a limit applies later.
Referral credits
If Novagora gave you a referral link, it appears in the wallet: in the app under Account → Wallet, on the web under Settings → Plan & credits. Copy it or share it with people you think would enjoy Novagora.
The link ends in /r/ and a short code. Opening it, on the web or in the app,
leads to sign-up. The device remembers the code for 30 days, so signing up
later still counts; on the web that needs Preferences switched on in the
cookie choices, and without it the code counts only when they sign up in the
same visit. The link card shows how many of the link's sign-ups are used and
when a new link starts, then Signed up, Rewarded and Credits earned
for you so far, and how many of your monthly rewards are used. The web has
Copy link; the app also has Share link.
- When someone signs up through your link and becomes active, you get 100 credits and they get 50 credits on top of their welcome gift. Active means their email is verified, the account is at least 7 days old, and within 30 days of signing up they joined someone else's Space, followed someone, or published a post.
- You are rewarded for at most 10 people a month. Each one also adds 25 points to your score.
- Earned credits expire 90 days after they arrive, cannot be gifted, and have no cash value. The history records what lapses as Earned credits expired.
- Your link takes up to 25 sign-ups and is replaced by a new one every 30 days. A link that is used up, replaced or paused still opens sign-up, just without crediting anyone. A link that gets many sign-ups in a short time is paused while we check it.
- No reward is paid for your own second account, for accounts that share a device or network with yours, or for accounts our safety checks have limited.
Buying credits
Credit packs are bought in the mobile app, under Account → Wallet. There are three pack sizes, and each shows the store's price before you buy: 500 credits, 2,000 plus a 5% bonus (2,100 in all), and 10,000 plus a 15% bonus (11,500 in all). Purchased credits never expire and can be gifted.
Credits have no cash value, and Novagora does not refund them — see Refunds and disputes.
The web app shows your balance and history, lets you gift credits, and says where purchasing happens.
If a purchase does not appear straight away, the app says it is still processing. Check back rather than buying again — see also Restore purchases under Plans and credits.
If it is still unconfirmed about an hour later, the app says that it is taking longer than it should, shows the store's reference for the payment, and offers a way to contact us.
While that is going on, buying is held closed — for about a day — so the same payment cannot be made a second time. After that the app stops chasing it and buying reopens, which is why an unconfirmed payment is worth getting in touch about rather than waiting out. The credits still arrive on their own whenever it is confirmed, before or after that point.
Gifting credits
You can send purchased credits to another person. Plan allowance cannot be gifted, because it belongs to a subscription rather than to a balance, and neither can the welcome gift or earned credits.
- Open Gift credits in the wallet: in the app, in the wallet itself; on the web, in the wallet's Wallet options menu.
- Search for the recipient by name or username.
- Enter a whole number of credits, up to 5,000 per gift; the screen shows the maximum and your available purchased balance. You can add a short note.
- Review, then confirm.
You can send up to five gifts an hour. You cannot gift to yourself, or between two accounts where one has blocked the other.
A gift cannot be undone. The confirmation says so, and it names the recipient and the amount. Gifted credits land in the recipient's purchased bucket, where they do not expire.
Your credit history
The history lists every movement, newest first, with the bucket it touched and the balance afterwards:
| Entry | What happened |
|---|---|
| Welcome gift | You got the one-time welcome gift |
| Credit purchase | You bought credits |
| Monthly plan allowance | Your plan granted its allowance |
| Credits used | You paid for something |
| Gift sent, Gift received | A gift moved between accounts |
| Refund | Credits were returned, or a refunded credit pack was taken back |
| Allowance expired | Unused allowance lapsed at a period end |
| Welcome gift expired | The unused rest of the welcome gift lapsed after 30 days |
| Referral reward | Someone you referred became active |
| Referral bonus | You became active after signing up through a referral link |
| Earned credits expired | Unused earned credits lapsed 90 days after they arrived |
| Balance adjustment | Novagora corrected a balance |
| Credits forfeited | Credits were lost, as on account deletion, or an unpaid month's allowance was taken back |
On the web, the Show activity menu narrows the list to Credits added, Credits used, Gifts or Promotions.
The history is append-only. It is the record of what happened to your balance, and nothing removes an entry from it.
Promotion purchases
Promotions bought with credits are listed separately, with the kind of content promoted, the tier, the credits spent, and the window they ran for. Opening one shows the details and links to the content. See Promoting your content.
If a balance looks wrong
- Read the history — most surprises are an allowance expiring at a period end.
- Check whether an allowance period has just rolled over.
- If it still does not add up, contact us through the Contact page, with the date and the entry you are asking about.
