Likes, comments, and bookmarks

Reacting to a post, writing and moderating comments, and saving something for later.

Every post carries the same three counts — likes, comments, reposts — and the same set of actions under them.

Likes

Tap the heart to like a post, an article, or a comment; tap it again to take the like back. The count next to it is the total, and on a post you can open the full list of people who liked it.

Liking is public: the author sees it, and it appears in the list. Someone you have blocked cannot like your posts, and you will not see theirs.

Comments

Comments are up to 2,000 characters and can carry one photo, which you can Edit to crop or rotate before posting.

  • Reply answers a specific comment rather than the post, and the replies sit under it.
  • You can edit your own comment, and delete it. Deleting is permanent and is confirmed first.
  • Nobody else can delete your comment, and the post's author cannot delete yours. A comment somebody else wrote comes down through a report — or, in a Space, because a moderator of that Space removes it; the author is notified.

Comments on a post in a Space follow that Space's rules: commenting needs the comment capability, and a member who is restricted to read-only cannot comment. See Roles and permissions.

Commenting is rate limited. If you are writing many comments in a short burst, Novagora asks you to slow down rather than dropping what you wrote.

Bookmarks

Bookmarking saves a post or an article for yourself. It is private: the author is not told, and nothing about it appears on your profile. Bookmark again to remove it.

Everything you bookmarked is listed under Bookmarks — in the sidebar on the web, and under your account in the app — most recently saved first. A post or article you can no longer see, because it was deleted or its author blocked you, drops out of the list.

Bookmarks are for keeping something to read. To stop seeing a kind of post, use the feed controls instead.

Sharing

On the web, Copy link is on a post, an article and a poll. Send in a message sends a post to up to 10 of your conversations at once, on the web and in the app. In the app, Share on an article and Share link on a post hand the address to your phone's share sheet. What the recipient sees depends on where it lives: a public post opens for anyone, including people who are not signed in, while something inside a private Space opens only for members.

Copying a link never changes who can see the thing you copied.

When an action does not work

What you see What it means
The like or comment control is missing You are signed out, or your role in that Space does not allow it
This post was deleted The author or a moderator removed it
You cannot see the post at all It is in a private Space you are not in, from a private account, or from someone who blocked you
Your action is waiting to be sent You are offline; see When something goes wrong
