Space settings, ownership, and deletion
What an admin can change, what only the owner can, the analytics view, and handing a Space over or closing it.
A Space's settings are reached from the Space itself. Admins see the configuration. Below Admin the page shows your membership and nothing else.
Handing the Space over and deleting it are the owner's, and only the owner's: the sections appear only for the owner, so an Admin does not see them.
What you can change
Identity — the name, description, avatar, and banner. The URL is fixed at creation and cannot be changed.
Visibility & join rules — see Finding and joining a Space. Making a public Space private takes its content out of reach of everyone who is not a member, including people who were reading it as followers.
Default level — the level people arrive at. See Newcomer, and moving up.
Categories — one to five, and how the Space is found in Explore. On the web they sit under More settings, with the advanced settings.
Advanced:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Require article review | Articles need approval before they publish |
| Minimum level to invite | Who may create invites |
| Newcomer auto-promotion | Owner only. Whether Newcomers move up by themselves, and after how many days and comments |
Auto-moderation — on a Space with Ultra (the owner's plan or the Space's own), Admins and the owner set keyword and link rules and, for a Space that takes requests, questions for people asking to join. Slow mode is set per channel. See Auto-moderation.
Analytics
Reading analytics needs the member-management capability, which only Admin and the owner have.
Analytics shows the Space's members, followers, and score as they stand. On a plan that includes Space analytics — the owner's plan or the Space's own — it adds how the Space is doing: members gained this month, weekly active members as a share of all members, posts, event RSVPs, active members per day with the days events drew people in, and the top posts. On the web, Score history opens the history behind it, one row per snapshot: score, members, members active in the last 30 days, content published that month, engagement, and events and polls.
- On a plan without it, the current overview is still there and the rest is offered as a plan upgrade rather than an error.
- A brand-new Space has no history until its first snapshot is taken, and needs a second one before anything can be compared.
- If the history cannot be loaded, the totals stay and the page says the series is missing.
Advanced opens when the Space has Ultra, through the owner's plan or the Space's own. Choose the last 30 or 90 days. It shows:
- Growth: members who joined in the window and are still members, new members per day, and the net change from the daily snapshots. Leaving is not recorded, so there is no churn figure.
- Retention: each of the last eight weeks' newcomers, and the share active in the Space again one, two and four weeks later. A week that has not passed for everyone yet reads "Not yet".
- Top posts and top articles: the ten with the most likes and comments, then views.
- Best times to post: average likes and comments per post by weekday and hour, in your time zone. An hour with fewer than three posts stays blank.
- Member activity: active and dormant members over 30 days, how often members took part, and the top contributors.
Each table exports as a CSV file, which is noted in the audit log. Below Ultra, Advanced shows what it contains and links to the plans; when Ultra ends the view locks again and returns as it was after an upgrade.
Analytics is about the Space: apart from top contributors, it is counts, not a record of who did what. A member who hides from leaderboards is counted but never named.
Branding
On Ultra — the owner's plan or the Space's own — the owner gives the Space its own look and a short link, under Branding in the Space's settings.
- Colour — pick one of the presets or enter any six-digit hex code. The Space's own pages use it for the header, tabs, join and follow buttons, selected items, links, and the focus ring, in every theme. The colour is adjusted in lightness so text on it always stays readable; the preview shows the colour as it will appear. Settings, the rest of the app, avatars, status colours, and other people's posts in your feeds keep the usual look.
- Short link —
novagora.app/@nameopens the Space, on the web and in the app. The name follows the same rules as a Space URL, cannot be reserved or another Space's URL, and can be changed once every 30 days. Removing it is always possible, and the name is free for others right away. Sharing the Space uses the short link; the Space's own address stays/s/and its URL.
Only the owner sees and changes branding. If the plan ends, the Space goes back to the usual look and the short link stops working, but both are kept — and the name stays the Space's — until Ultra returns. The platform may remove a short link that breaks the rules.
What only the owner can do
Renaming levels and changing what the lower levels may do is the owner's, under Roles. So are handing the Space over and closing it, below.
Ownership
There is one owner. Transfer ownership offers the Space to another member — they must already be in it — and nothing moves until they accept.
- The offer waits under the recipient's invitations. Withdraw offer takes it back.
- An offer expires after 7 days if it is not answered, and is void if you stop being the owner in the meantime.
- On acceptance they become the owner, you become an Admin, and the Space counts against their plan's owned-Space allowance — so a recipient at their limit cannot accept.
- A recipient whose plan allows fewer members than the Space has cannot accept. Extra members you bought stay until the paid month ends; after that the Space has the members the new owner's plan includes, unless they buy more.
- The Space's file library moves into the new owner's storage pool, so a recipient without room for it cannot accept either.
An owner cannot leave the Space. Transfer it or delete it.
Deleting a Space
Delete Space starts a 7-day grace period before the Space is permanently removed. It is confirmed first, and the confirmation says so. Until then you can bring it back with Restore under Recently deleted in your Spaces list. Restoring counts against your owned-Space allowance again, so past your plan's number it costs credits like a new Space, and the price is shown before anything is charged.
Deleting takes the Space's content with it — its posts, articles, channels, events, tasks, notes, polls, and files. Members are not deleted, and neither is anything they own personally.
Deleting a Space, like handing it over, frees the owned-Space slot it was using.
When a Space is suspended
Novagora can suspend a Space over a platform-level matter. A suspended Space cannot be changed, and its settings say so rather than failing silently. Members can still leave. Suspension is a platform decision; contact support through the Contact page.
